FAQ's About The Lida Cam
Where is the Lida Cam ?
ans. The Clay County Courthouse is being completely
reconstructed and we have
a place across Main street looking West toward the courthouse. You will be
able
to watch them move almost every block including the Veterans War Memorial,
Mine Disaster Memorial and the U.S. & KY Flags. Some monster sized stones
now used "may" be incorporated into the new building. The
new
courthouse will be a state of the art law and justice center.
What makes the Clay County Courthouse so interesting?
ans. The Clay County Courthouse was built during the
depression years,
opening its doors
in1939.
ans. The builders used locally queried limestone some
weighing over 2 tons.
ans. The existing controversy between the preservationists
and demolitionists.
ans. It has been a central hub of activity for circuit and
county judicial system
as well as Clay
County government for the better part of the 20th century.

What will be the hours that the cam will be operating?
ans. The hours the Lida Cam will be
operating will be mostly daylight hrs. daily.
ans.
If there is night time construction or a special night time event we will
post
the event and have the Lida Cam on.
ans.
Images change during weekends if the crew is working.
ans.
The
last image of the day remains until the
first image uploads the next morning.
How often does the image change?
ans. Depending on what activity is going on at the
site; the camera will
take a picture anywhere from 20
seconds through several minutes.
ans.
Browser refreshing rate is usually 30 - 90 seconds. Bringing you the
latest image without waiting for long periods of time. A little confusing.
ans.
Refresh or browser countdowns rates:
60=1min
150=2.5min
300=5min 600=10min
900=15min 1800=30min
3600=1hr
7200=2hr etc.
How do I know when the last picture was taken?
ans. Look at the text along the top edge of the image for date and
time that is when the last image was taken. Look at your clock on
your computer and see when the next image should post. (see next ans).

If the text at the top of the image is blurred and not readable. The
image we are now taking is archiving in a larger format than than the display
frame in your browser. We are presently showing the image into your
browser at a resolution of 320 X 240 pixels and archiving at 640 X 480
pixels. This does make the smaller text at the top of the image unreadable
in most case, sorry.
Where was the Lida Cam Located for the last images ?
ans. 2001. The Lida Cam was located on the second floor of the First National
Bank Annex building looking NW into the square of downtown
Manchester.
It showed views of the Clay County Days Festival.
ans.
2002. The Lida Cam was street-level during Clay County Days.
Mostly within 150 feet of the C/C Library downtown.
* People called all over the country with cell phones to have relatives and
friends look in on them over their computer. Some held up signs, one
might have been reminded of Good Morning America (well almost).
Sometimes my pictures looks dark of have spots?
ans. The sun passing during the day may cause some natural distortions.
ans.
The sun can cause spots in the image especially in the late afternoons.
ans.
It may be night, dusk, dawn, cloudy, or stormy here; the Lida Cam
lens aperture is set for optimum exposure considering these conditions.
Sometimes I see lines or streaks up-down or across the image?
ans. These are usually caused by
the by sun light glaring off the windshields
and chrome of parked
cars that may not be seen in the camera view.
As the sun or car move these should go away.
ans.
Black lines running across may be power lines. Others may be tree
branches.
The image doesn't change?
ans. The Lida Cam may be
changing to a new location or view and is not online.
ans. The Lida Cam may not be taking pictures at the time you are viewing and
the
last image that the camera captured will continue to be displayed until
the cam starts uploading according to the schedule.
(daylight).

There may be no one working that day....or no activity (except passing cars)
ans.
You may need to refresh your page by clicking the refresh button (F5).
ans.
There may have been an interruption in the phone or electrical line. In which
case the
Lida Cam will attempt to redial until a connection is reestablished.

Our cam is off-line when we are backing up files, changing or
updating, changing positions or locations.
ans.
Older browsers may not be able to run the scripting for the image change;
click your refresh button or back then forward button.
ans.
Web TV viewers have reported the most trouble viewing images.
ans.
Your isp [not us] may have disconnected you (bumped).
It takes my browser a long time to load the image?
ans. Picture files are larger files and take a few moments longer to load.
ans.
The
internet may at certain times be congested causing a time out or
slow down in the rate that bytes are able to transfer.
ans.
If your modem (28. or 33bps.) or your local gateway line connection is slow,
images will load slow.
ans.
During peak viewing times the refreshing of images may also be a little slower.
Do you have any archived pictures of past events?
ans. Yes, see
We say You Downtown. However, are working on a program
to archive
cam pictures
online for viewer printing and hope
to have it
running very soon.

Yes, we now have a carload of courthouse images archived and will
soon have a collection of images put together. We hope to have a time-
lapsed collection available soon too. We hope to add some video
interviews, comments, and responses to the collection.
Is this the only cam? Are other cams planned?
ans. We have 3 other cams that we can make available. Watch the site for info.
Troubleshooting
ans.
If Image does not
change check the picture time.
You must refresh your page
to see if the refreshing
countdown rate or
picture rate has been
modified since
your last visit (MS users-- the F5 button on your keyboard).
ans.
We change the image taking frequency daily to reflect the amount of
activity at the site.
